American Tennis Coach & Former Player

Rick Macci is an American tennis coach and former player. He is a United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Master Professional, and seven-time USPTA national coach of the year who has trained five number one ranked players: Andy Roddick, Jennifer Capriati, Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, and Venus Williams.
In 2010, he was inducted into the USPTA Florida Hall of Fame.He serves as a consultant on the USTA Player Development Program in Boca Raton, Florida.
In the early 1970s Macci started his career as the tennis pro at Bob Schul's Sports Complex in Troy, Ohio. In the late 1970s he became the tennis professional at the Sinnet Indoor Tennis Club in Vineland, New Jersey when in 1979 he achieved the #1 Ranked Adult player in New Jersey.
He started the Rick Macci International Tennis Academy in 1985, in Haines City, Florida, at the Grenelefe Golf & Tennis Resort, where two of his students were Tommy Ho and Jennifer Capriati. In the summer of 1992, the Macci Academy moved to Delray Beach.

Dr. Caroline Martin is associate professor at the M2S Laboratory of the University of Rennes 2 in France. She has a PhD in Sports Sciences. She is an expert in tennis biomechanics. She has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles and books/book chapters in the field. Since 2013, she worked with more than 200 French and international high-level, wheelchair and rising players to improve serve performance and prevent injuries.

Eva Borras has been a Mental Performance Trainer for the past 20 years, providing mental skills training to athletes, coaches, parents and teams in a number of different sports, such as tennis, golf, sailing, padel, track and field, basketball and soccer.
Eva is also an ex-tennis player, having reached the pro level and achieving a world WTA ranking among the top 500 players in the world.

Mark Tennant is a Certified LTA Level 5 coach, qualified Coach Education Tutor and Assessor, and certified Mentor and Transformational Coach.
Mark has over 30 years’ experience coaching in clubs and tennis centres in the UK. He has been training coaches for the LTA and ITF for over 20 years and has tutored more than 100 certification courses for the LTA in the UK. Mark was a lead member of the team charged with the development and launch of the ITF Tennis…Play and Stay campaign, working with staff and experts from other major nations. This also involved writing the ITF Tennis…Play and Stay manual which has been translated into over 30 languages, and the ITF Adults Tennis Xpress programme.
Mark is a regular speaker at conferences worldwide, and has presented on every continent, both in English and French. Mark has presented at ITF Worldwide Coaches Workshops including 2023 in Bogota, Colombia, has trained tutors for Tennis Europe and presented at numerous Tennis Europe coaches conferences and symposiums.
Mark is a Founder and Director of inspire2coach, a company which he owns and set up with co-Director Richard Marklow. The company offers coach education worldwide and runs more than 30 tennis facilities in the UK. As an LTA Coach Development Centre, i2c has so far certified over 10000 coaches and assistants in the UK. Mark is also responsible for managing the company’s international projects with key partners around the world.

Isla has over 20 years' experience within the Tennis & Fitness industries. Having worked many years as a full-time head coach, she is a qualified educational tutor and assessor and now delivers LTA Qualifications, Forums and Workshops. Isla is also a Tennis For Kids National Mentor, Cardio Tennis Global Trainer and Ball Kid Trainer for the Nitto World Tour ATP Finals.
Isla also works within the fitness industry as an Elite Level Instructor, National Fitness Presenter, Yoga Teacher, Assessor and Internal Quality Assurer.

Dr. Mark Kovacs is a leading sport scientist and coach for high performance tennis players. He has personally coached and trained over two dozen Top 100 ATP and WTA professionals. He formerly directed the Sport Science, Strength & Conditioning and Coaching Education departments for the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and was the Director of the Gatorade Sport Science Institute. He has also served as the Senior Director of Sports Science & Health for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA. He is considered a leading tennis serve expert and is highly focused on optimizing tennis specific movement and fitness. He currently serves as the Executive Director of the International Tennis Performance Association (iTPA) which is the leading sport science and tennis fitness organization in the world with members in over 40 countries (www.itpa-tennis.org).
Dr. Kovacs is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and he was an All-American and NCAA doubles champion in tennis at Auburn University and has been a leading consultant to the ATP and WTA Tours as well as nearly a dozen Top tennis Associations around the world. He is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Certified Tennis Performance Specialist (CTPS) and Master Tennis Performance Specialist (MTPS) through the iTPA. Séverine Tamborero is a high-performance coach, speaker, consultant, author and TV analyst. Being involved in the tennis world for more than 30 years, she graduated from the National Institute of Coaching in Montreal and holds her Level 4 National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and has been a TPA member since 2008.
Séverine is a renowned international speaker and is running her Consulting firm Severine Tamborero Performance Coaching. She works with parents, athletes, coaches and federations of different sports. She worked at Tennis Canada as a traveling and National Coach and has the Director of development for U10 and U15 and High-performance clubs. She was Captain of the 2022 U14 girls World Cup Team and for the 2023 Qualifications the 2023 U14 girls' team
Séverine led the National Wheelchair Tennis Team from 2000 to 2009, coached at three Paralympic Games (Sydney in 2000, Athens in 2004 and Beijing in 2008) and numerous World Cups with the Men’s National Team.
Sèverine is also the author of the book “Casser le Moule” and co-author of the book “La performance à quel prix”

Andrea Buckeridge has championed the inclusion and participation of women in tennis for more than 25 years and is currently Head of Women and Girls at Tennis Australia.
Andrea joined Tennis Australia as Women’s Tennis Manager where she made notable contributions to advancing women’s tennis in participation, coaching, tournaments, player development and education, including introducing women’s coaching scholarships; managing the Fed Cup team; and being the Tournament Director of over 20 ITF professional women’s events. On moving to the Coach Development Manager role, she is credited with creating and implementing the national Coach Education program and digital learning platform Bounce.
Andrea has a Bachelor of Education, Graduate Diploma (Psych), Master of Science (PE - Sport Psychology) and Master of Psychology (Counselling). She is also a qualified secondary school teacher and a registered non-practicing psychologist.

Ahsley Neaves is a professional tennis coach, coach educator and programme director based in the UK. Ashley has had a huge success running his YouTube channel and Instagram page, The Tennis Mentor. Ashley has accumulated a combined following of over 88,000. Ashley is also the director of The Avenue Tennis, a coaching programme focussed on players of all ages and abilities. Ashley was also formerly named the UK Coach of the Year.
Ashley is now a qualified LTA Coach Tutor, training coaches through their Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications as well as delivering Regional Coach Forums and LTA Junior Programme Training Days.

Sam Scowen is now Coaching Tennis within the Independent Schools & GPS pathway in Sydney, alongside coaching Sam has a huge passion for Coach Development and is part of the team in NSW. Sam was previously the Director of Tennis at The Royal Sydney Golf Club and accountable for implementing a new strategic plan for Tennis, engaging key internal and external stakeholders to meet the needs of its Members and to implement change. Sam was also the Tournament Director at RSGC and played an integral part in the annual Championships. Before starting at Royal Sydney Sam was Head Coach at Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre where he worked for Tennis Australia for 3.5 years and bridge the gap between participation and performance.

Throughout his 20 years of tennis coaching career, Tomas has successfully grown and managed several highly successful tennis programs in Slovakia and Australia and worked closely with Tennis Australia’s Talent Development, Hot Shots and Coach Education programs.

Mitchell Turner is a researcher in the Systematic Profiling in Neurological Conditions (SPIN) team at Edith Cowan University and a sleep consultant at Melius Consulting.
Mitchell’s educational background includes exercise and sports science, strength and conditioning and sleep science. Mitchell has recently completed his PhD thesis, which aimed to understand the impact sleep-wake behaviour and chronotype have on match-play and physical performance of tennis players. He is coordinating light therapy trials to improve sleep and reduce fatigue for people living with neurological conditions. He has established international collaborations, published numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented at international conferences and invited seminars.
Mitchell is passionate about sleep, chronobiology, physical performance and data science. He is a former tennis player and coach but is now focused on improving the performance of others through sleep and chronobiology interventions and education.
Alistair Higham

Alistair Higham is an international expert on match play and momentum in sport. His work on momentum includes advising professional tennis players, footballs teams, coaches, players and athletes. Author of two best-selling books on momentum, his work is also showcased in sports exhibitions, the Wimbledon Museum and he presents on momentum at conferences across the world. Formerly an LTA National Coach and then Head of Coach Education, he is GB Team Manager for World Students Games and currently heading up the GB University Programme for the LTA 3 days a week.
Simon Jones

Following a professional playing career in tennis, during which time he competed at the Wimbledon Championships Q, Simon established a successful coaching business in Cardiff, Wales where he was instrumental in guiding high performance tennis players to National and World success.
An appointment as a National Coach for the Lawn Tennis Association led to a 31-year career with the National Governing Body. During this time, Simon worked in senior leadership roles, increased the effectiveness of those coaching Britain’s most talented athletes and also led Great Britain teams to European and World titles himself.
Simon established the first National LTA Academy at the University of Bath, and he was instrumental in the development of the University of Bath Sports Training Village. Following the successful inception of Bath, Simon directed the same LTA National Academy model at Loughborough University.
Whilst at Bath, Simon was Team Bath Director of Coaching, which included the role of Chair of the Multi-Sport Olympic and Professional High-Performance Committee.
The opening of the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton prompted a move from Bath where, as Head of Performance Support, Simon provided leadership to a 60 strong department in the High-Performance team. This saw him responsible for implementing an interdisciplinary structure for supporting High-Performance athletes, directing teams for Talent Identification & Development, overseeing the investment of a £4 million programme of High-Performance Centre’s, leading the Sports Science, Sports Medicine, Research & Development and Performance Coach Development functions. Additionally, Simon was Chair of the selection committee for the High-Performance programmes and part of the selection committee for the Olympic Games.
Whilst in this role at the National Tennis Centre, Simon led the support team who were part of the winning Great Britain Davis Cup squad in 2015. This resulted in Great Britain achieving the number 1 ranking in the World.
In addition to his sport's specific duties, Simon’s leadership role meant that he was part of the Executive Team of the Lawn Tennis Association for four and a half years and was a regular attendee at Main Board level contributing to the development of the wider British Tennis business.
Leading the redevelopment of the Performance Coach Education Pathway was Simon’s final sport specific mission at the LTA whilst holding the position of Head of Performance Coach Education and Development.
Since leaving the LTA and as Director of ‘Performance Minded Ltd’ consultancy, the reach of Simon’s influence has extended from the tennis arena to multi sports including football. This has involved supporting individuals in senior leadership roles, advising on strategic development, the development of leadership teams and personal effectiveness.

In 2022 Simon was appointed Head of Performance Strategy at Chelsea FC and this is his current role in addition to maintaining his consultancy support to elite sporting leaders.
Simon holds a Diploma in Transformational Coaching and is accredited by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council. Simon is also an accredited practitioner for Spotlight Personality Profiling

Scott Draper

Scott is the current Head of Performance Coach Development at Tennis Australia. He is a former top 50 tennis player and professional golfer winning on both tours. He brings extensive and diverse experience working across multiple sectors (including high-performance sport) delivering leadership, organisational development and executive coaching. His coaching experience is vast, extending from high-performance coaching in sport (Tennis e.g. Ash Barty and Lleyton Hewitt, through to working with countless leaders across multiple sectors.

Simon Rea is a New Zealand-born tennis coach who works for Tennis Australia in his current capacity as the Senior Manager of Game Analysis. Prior to returning to Tennis Australia, Simon spent 3.5 years as the High Performance Director at Tennis New Zraland. Throughout his previous tenure with Tennis Australia (2008-2016) he coached players across the Tennis Australia pathway, including a stint with Nick Kyrgios back in 2013/14. In 2013, Simon received the award for Coaching Excellence, High Performance at the Newcombe Medal awards.

Louise represented Victoria, Queensland and Australia in cricket, being a member of the successful 2005 World Cup team in South Africa. She is a Cricket Australia Level 2 coach, and works with her local club under 15 girls' team. As an Australian Army Reserve officer, she deployed to Afghanistan in 2018, mentoring staff at the Afghan National Army Officer Academy in Kabul. She served in the Victoria Police and Queensland Police Service for a total of 20 years, and in 2021 left the police to join Tennis Australia as a Senior Integrity Officer. As a sports tragic, she thinks that working for Tennis Australia is one of the best jobs going around!
David Berthon

Dave is a life-long tennis fan and has been playing since he was 9 years old and first started coaching as a teenager. He is a Club Professional qualified Tennis Australia coach and was formerly Head Coach for Tennis World at Sydney Olympic Park. His second passion is martial arts and he is a second dan black belt in Kyokushin karate and is internationally recognised as an instructor. He joined the Tennis Australia Integrity team in mid-2022 having spent approximately 14 years in the New South Wales Police as a Detective, including two years in the Child Abuse Squad. Following this he spent 4 years investigating child abuse matters and employee misconduct for the New South Wales Department of Education

Mitch is a Club Professional qualified coach and has been coaching for over 30 years in his family tennis coaching business which still operates today. He spent time as the Head Tennis Professional at the American Club, Singapore, and was a Primary and Secondary School Physical Education teacher. Mitch was also a Coach Developer for 20 years, and since joining Tennis Australia has spent time in Coach Development, Schools and Education and Professional Learning. Callum Beale, currently the Head of Game Expansion for Tennis Australia, focusing on the introduction and integration of emerging racquet and paddle formats within the tennis network. Previously Callum has worked across Performance, Talent and Coach Education departments within Tennis Australia, with a bachelor’s degree in Sport Science and master’s degree in Business Administration.
Previously, Callum was a US college tennis player however now finds himself more actively participating in complementary formats of the game.

Nick now resides in Perth Australia. He has worked in Talent identification for both the LTA and A.E.L.T.C(Wimbledon) and currently works for Tennis Australia as the Coach Relationship and Education Manager for WA. Nick operated numerous academies in the UK and has produced multiple national individual and team champions, where many of these players have entered the top 100 ITF junior rankings. Nick is the creator of the “Thinking CAP” philosophy which is designed to develop competence/autonomy and purpose for young children.
